WELCOME!
Our group lesson program offers classes for all ages and abilities from 3 years old through adult skaters. Listed below are frequently asked questions and answers from customers over the years. We want to make sure that you and your skater have a fun and positive experience.
Q. Do I need to buy my own skates?
No, rental skates are available for use during your lesson time at no additional cost.
Q. What is proper skating attire?
Thin layers of clothing and thin socks are preferable.
No bulky jackets, ski pants or thick socks.
Q. Am I allowed to be on the ice with my child during the lesson?
No, all of the beginner classes have 1 certified instructor and 1 qualified assistant to assist your skater.
Q. Does my child have to wear a helmet?
3, 4 & 5 years old are required to wear a helmet. 6 years old and above is a parental decision.
Q. What type of helmet is recommended?
A bicycle helmet is the best choice. Please no aerodynamic helmets.
Q. Does my child need gloves?
Yes, gloves, instead of mittens, are preferred for ease to grasp and pick up objects.
Q. If my child misses a class, may we come to another class?
Unfortunately, we do not offer make up classes
Q. How should my skates fit?
Skates should fit snug like a glove not loose like a boot. Laces should be pulled tight, especially at the ankle, starting at the bottom and working up to the top.
Q. Can I practice after my class?
Practice ice is not available after class. A complementary public session pass card for any session is provided for each skater in their class welcome packet. However, skaters will need to pay for the use of rental skates.
Q. I registered online but haven’t received an email regarding my class.
Each online class registration receives an automated confirmation. A few days before classes begin, you will receive full details of day, class time, coach name and where to meet.
Q. When will I receive my class packet?
Class packets and your complementary public session pass card will be given out on the first day of class by the class coach.
Q. If my child has special needs can they take skating lessons?
Yes, Skate Frederick welcomes all to our program. When registering in person, over the phone or online, please let us know your child’s special need in order for the coach to best accommodate your skater.

We look forward to you joining us!
Ms. Kelly and Ms. Barb
